We were warmly welcomed in a friendly atmosphere and found exactly the authentic stay we were after; the location is super convenient because we could do a lot of walking. The futon was a bit uncomfortable, but I’m a picky sleeper.

Perfect for solo travelers, right in Kyoto’s heart and walkable in every direction. My capsule bunk felt very private for a dorm setting, especially the little cubby for my bag. The building had a lovely, old‑timey feel. The mattress was thin, the AC ran all the time, and the dorm was packed, so my sleep was quite disturbed, but that’s expected at hostels like this.
