Good accommodation. Quietly situated but only a 5‑minute walk to the town. The beach around the hotel isn’t that great.

“A budget place right by the sea by a kind old couple”

The location is in the old Dutch quarter, right next to an old rest house‑turned‑colonial‑style restaurant. All the rooms on the upper floor have balconies overlooking the sea just outside the wall. At night the only sound is the waves. Across the large meadow lies the Dutch fort ruin and the fish market, about a 17‑minute walk to the train station and shopping area. The place looks a bit run‑down, no hot water or Wi‑Fi, very basic but clean enough. The old couple who run it are very kind and helpful.

Friendly staff. Excellent restaurant. The smell of the nearby fish market is noticeable.

Just a few steps from the fish market. I walked to the market and then to the canal; a local guided me and it was a great insight. We were woken by crow sounds in the morning, but that wasn’t a bad thing for me. We chose this spot for the fish market, so we expected that. The staff are the best—always smiling and trying to keep us comfortable during our one‑night stay. Next time I might pick an AC room; it’s downstairs, has its own private entrance, and looks cuter from the outside. It’s humid, but after a shower we managed to sleep until 8.
