“Excellent family friendly ski hostel with great proximity to the hill & village”
The Snowfox is a snug ski hostel where the owner is incredibly attentive, always thinking about your comfort. Walking up the hill to the Karasawa lift takes just two minutes, and you’ll find no long ticket lines, so you can jump straight into a ski day. From the hostel’s windows you can actually see people boarding the lift. Breakfasts were both tasty and filling, blending Western and Japanese dishes that kept the kids satisfied. The hostel itself is clean and well maintained. We stayed in the large family suite, which accommodated two adults and two children comfortably. The village is only a fifteen‑minute walk from the hostel, making shopping and dining out a breeze. We loved the mountain and valley views and even spotted a few foxes one morning. The owner was always ready to help; he arranged for our ski bags to be sent to the airport via Ta‑Q‑Bin (Black Cat Courier). The only downside was the limited hours for shower and bath access, which didn’t bother us because the men showered after skiing and the women after dinner. If the hostel’s hours don’t suit you, there’s a public onsen five minutes away that stays open until 11 pm.
