Luxury Lodge Escapes Unwind With Hot Tub

I called the lady on the way down from Hull with my grandson to say I’d be a bit late, only to discover she’d cancelled our stay. I didn’t get any email in spam, and the hotel was full everywhere, so we had to sleep in the car. I’m utterly disgusted.

“Comfortable accommodation, shame about the location”

The layout was good and it could comfortably hold four people, but the location was hard to find—surrounded by construction and a site full of mobile homes, caravans, and equipment, with no signage at the track entrance or along the lane. We never met the owner, and every call went to voicemail; we couldn’t even send a message. It looked like a park home with lots of empty display and storage units, only two hangers and no mirror near the sockets, making it tough for my wife to style her hair.

“Lovely inside but not outside.”

Very clean and roomy, and the beds were comfy. Inside it’s lovely—great for a cozy night in. Outside, the areas were shabby and not a place you’d want to sit. The LazySpa barely warmed up and was the size of a kids’ paddling pool, probably only big enough for 2–3 people. The property isn’t easy to locate; we had to call the vendor for directions because the website didn’t describe it well.

“Lovely lodge but location NO!”

The lodge itself was modern and had all the amenities to keep us comfortable, and the hot tub was a nice touch along with various toiletries, including face masks. Unfortunately, it sits on a derelict caravan storage yard, and the weather wasn’t great, so stepping out of the lovely interior onto that eyesore felt off. For that reason, I think the price is too high and the location should weigh into your decision.

I can’t really review the property we booked because we never stayed there! We struggled to find it and only figured out where to go after reading someone else’s review on Bay Farm. When we arrived—after traveling from Scotland, London, and Portland—we discovered it had been double‑booked: I had booked it, but someone else had it on Airbnb. The host was just as confused but, credit to her, she was welcoming and helpful once we explained the mix‑up. After contacting the co‑host and another property they share, they kindly let us stay in a different lovely house nearby. It had a sauna outside, though we didn’t use it because we’d booked the original place for a hot tub, but we were grateful the house we ended up in was beautiful and clean. The hosts did everything they could to make our stay pleasant; they just need to sort out booking management on Airbnb—something to keep in mind if you’re considering booking, as this isn’t the first time it’s happened.
