La Muñequita Lodge 2 - culture & nature experience

The family owners were super friendly and always ready to help, which blew me out of the water. The food was homemade and delicious, and we ate together at the table like a real family. The place is tucked into nature, so it’s quiet, safe, and the farm and wild animals add a nice touch. We gave the facilities a 3 out of 4 because they’re still improving, but honestly they’re great. The only downside? My stay was too short 😁

“Excellent, would definitely come back!”

Stopping by La Muñequita Lodge was a highlight. The owners welcomed me with open arms, the rooms were comfy, and the food was mouth‑watering. What really stood out was the owner’s kindness after my bike got robbed the day before. He spent an entire day driving me to several police stations, translating, and trying to recover my stuff. His generosity and patience meant the world to me. I can’t recommend this place enough if you want genuine hospitality from people who truly care.

“Pura vida, even onderdompelen in het echte leven op et platteland van Costa Rica”

Pure nature, living like the locals do. The host was incredibly welcoming, the people were sweet, and it was fun meeting volunteers and sharing what the pot had. Walking around the house and in the neighborhood was a treat, and from the balcony you could spot monkeys and birds. At first the basic setup felt a bit rough, but we quickly felt at home and found it cleaner than we expected.

“Schöne, aber etwas abenteuerliche Unterkunft mit gutem Essen und freundlichem Personal”

The food was really good, and the location is just amazing—right in the green, an open house with only a mosquito net. Waking up to loud bird chatter was a blast. It’s a perfect launchpad for a trip to Corcovado, whether you’re heading to Drake Bay or Puerto Jiménez/Carate. Breakfast was top‑notch with delicious Gallo Pinto. The house is well equipped but a bit cramped, so it’s best if you’re planning a Corcovado adventure and don’t want to drive all the way in from farther north in one day.

I only stayed one night, but I’d suggest extending your visit. I checked out the Finca 6 site, and those who joined the cultural experience cooked dinner—though I paid for my meal since I didn’t help out. I also got to see a bunch of wildlife, like squirrel monkeys and macaws.
