I was very disappointed upon arrival when I learned about hidden costs, specifically a £20 charge for parking in the hotel’s car park. If I’d known, I’d have chosen another place. Bedford guests, beware!

The period building was lovely, the room was decent-sized with an en suite, and the atmosphere was relaxed. There was nothing I didn’t like; the older building was well cared for, could be cleaner but was adequate. The staff were excellent, very welcoming, helpful, and accommodating. Service was good. Food was average.

The bedroom was clean, comfortable, well maintained, and I slept peacefully. The dinner menu was good, and I enjoyed a leisurely meal with pleasant service in a comfortable dining room. The shower over the bath was awkward and unreliable for my use; I’ll ask for a walk‑in shower if I book again. The stairs were demanding, and since there’s no lift to upper floors, I’d request a downstairs room next time.

A comfortable hotel with well‑appointed rooms, good food, and professional staff. The car park is rather small.
