Our host greeted us warmly and we chatted about our home regions; the well‑maintained manor house was stylishly decorated, our room was huge with an adjacent wardrobe and a bright bathroom that had both a bathtub and a shower, plus nice towels—felt like a castle! The breakfast matched our tastes perfectly: fruit, homemade yogurt, assorted breads, homemade strawberry jam from Sologne, all served in a dining room that fit the rest of the house. It was also nice to talk with the other guest, a very interesting Englishman. Romorantin’s market was bustling, and our dinner in the garden of a local pizzeria was enjoyable, though there are other nearby spots for more regional fare. The only minor issue for us was that the bedding was a bit too soft for our preference for firmer support, but everything else was so good that it didn’t matter.
