Wonderful château. Visiting the château was tricky because you have to book at the tourist office, which is a pity because you miss out!

“Comida y aire acondicionado”

I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff at the Parador de Alcañiz, but the overall experience was mixed. The service at the front desk was very courteous and enjoyable, yet the dining experience fell short of what one would expect from a parador of this caliber. The food quality seemed very poor for the establishment’s category and the hype it generates. Additionally, we were disappointed with how the air‑conditioning issue was handled. Reception told us it was closed because of the season, even though the temperatures and guests’ discomfort made it clear that it was needed. We weren’t the only ones complaining about this. The response from reception was quite negative and unhelpful, merely pointing out that air‑conditioning was listed in the reservation without offering a solution or showing a willingness to assist. Simply having a service advertised in the booking is not enough; the facilities must allow a comfortable stay and complaints should be addressed with empathy and professionalism. We left with the staff’s friendliness in mind, but the dining experience and the mishandling of the air‑conditioning problem left us considerably disappointed. We expected so much more from a place of this standing.

“Brief but memorable stay in this top class Parador”

The character of the building was fantastic, and my room was flawless with a huge, comfortable bed, stunning views, and a cleverly designed bathroom that was both fabulous and functional. The staff were helpful and cheerful. No complaints.
