The Family Room with Private Bathroom contains five double beds, allowing up to five guests to sleep in the same space. A private bathroom includes a shower for guest use. Heating is provided within the room for climate control.
The staff are incredibly friendly and the rooms are cozy. Warm water and good heating make the cold nights comfortable. Breakfast offers fresh bread, cold cuts, fruit, and ice desserts on request. The central location in San Blas has many restaurants and the Viewpoint nearby. Luggage can be stored for several days if you go hiking. The mattresses are good. The rooms are a little noisy.
“Erg knusse plek op een goede locatie”
The location was really top, walking straight into the charming streets of San Blas. The accommodation itself is a small, cozy, and atmospheric hotel. The staff are kind and friendly. Because there was a leak in our room, we were moved to another room for the first night, which was also very comfortable. Later we were moved to another room, which was also good. Breakfast is fine, with fresh fruit and bakery rolls every morning. The rooms are all connected to the stairwell, and some windows face it directly, so it can be a bit noisy. Luckily the hotel is fairly quiet, so you won’t have much trouble. We had laundry done through the staff, which turned out to be a lot more expensive than we expected. We should have clarified the cost beforehand. It was clean, but it felt a bit bland. If you want laundry, there’s a place less than 100 m down the street that does it for a fraction of the price.
“Deceptive Advertising of Rooms”
Good location, breakfast, and wifi in a beautiful building. My bus was 5 hours late arriving in Cusco and we got there at midnight. The van driver dropped me off on the street below the hotel. I asked if he could drop me closer and he said it wasn’t possible. It’s a long walk up the stairs to the hotel! I paid for a double room with a balcony, but what I got was a single room with no balcony when I checked in. I sorted it out the next morning when I was exhausted. My room was quite small, so I requested the double room I had reserved for the next morning. They explained that because the room had a double bed, it was a double room. NO, it is a double bed in a small single room. I didn’t want to pay until we sorted it out. They agreed to discount $10 a night on my stay. I agreed, but here’s a warning: the room is small with very little space to move around. (Think Tokyo hotel rooms) With two people staying in that room, you’ll be tripping over each other and you won’t know where to put your luggage. I never got the room with the balcony, which is something to be aware of. When you think of a balcony, you think of a balcony overlooking a street, an ocean, a plaza, etc. Their small balcony is decorative and you overlook an interior wall about 6 feet away from the balcony. Seems deceptive! There is a wall heater close to the bed that hums constantly. The shower is tight but there is hot water. My biggest complaint is that the hotel advertises double rooms that clearly are not double rooms and a balcony with a view of an interior wall. My taxi did pick me up closer to the hotel, but it’s a dead‑end street so the driver has to back up to get to the main street. We had to wait 10+ minutes to get onto the street as traffic wasn’t moving. Be aware of this if you’re in a rush to get to the airport. I wouldn’t stay at Hostal Madre Tierra again.
Nice hostel. Great breakfast. Very cozy. The hot shower was the best. Friendly staff. Just note that it’s not easy to reach by car, so you’ll have to carry your luggage up the stairs if the taxi drops you at Choqechaka.
“A great location, lovely rooms, cosy and super friendly and helpful staff”
Very cozy and homely. The staff are super friendly. Lovely breakfast. Nothing else.
