The staff at the restaurant were uninterested in the evening; I had to wait about 15 minutes just to order a beer. A fire alarm went off at night, and no staff were visible for a long time.

Hotel Amadeus Dresden Neustadt, in North Dresden, offers free parking and a rustic cellar restaurant. Bright rooms feature satellite TV and desks. The Papageno restaurant serves German and Mediterranean cuisine. A 1-minute walk from trams, it's a 5-minute drive from the A4 motorway and 15 minutes from Dresden Central Station and city centre via the adjacent Trachenberger Platz tram stop.

Everything was fine, but the night was ruined by an alarm and a fire‑department response; it felt like an eternity before we could return to our rooms, and the uncertainty was frustrating, though the hotel was not at fault.

The young man at reception was snippy and pretentious, claiming to be the manager when he clearly wasn’t. In my room, the door was opened from the outside with the master key early in the morning. When I complained, he said he’d have to check if that was true, and he wouldn’t waive the €10 parking fee as a courtesy. He definitely needs customer‑service training.

The breakfast was average, but there was simply too little staff! The reception was rarely, if ever, staffed, and my room was never cleaned.

The blinds were broken and never fixed, even though reception promised to do so. The tram stop right outside the hotel is very loud. The hotel forbids bringing your own drinks into the room on a written notice, threatening penalties! I’ve never experienced such rudeness, especially while traveling for work.
