I didn’t get breakfast, but the coffee percolator was a nice touch. I was hoping to stay inside the historic homestead, yet we were assigned a bungalow outside the main building; seeing the main house would have been a treat. The scenery and farm animals were spectacular, especially the spring lambs. Phone connectivity was limited.

The historic buildings are absolutely stunning and the grounds are kept in great shape, which made us feel like we’d stepped back in time. The downside was the trek from the car park – the grass was still wet from recent mowing, so by the time we hit the path our shoes were soaked and covered in clippings. A narrow walkway would have saved us a lot of hassle, and we barely saw the hosts at all; a quick hello would have been nice to make sure we were settled.

The spot is right where you want to be, and the garden is simply gorgeous – a perfect little oasis for a relaxed stay.

The location and garden are pleasant, giving a nice backdrop to the stay, but the room felt a bit bare‑bones – we ran low on soap and shampoo, and there were no biscuits or any option for a light continental breakfast, even though we’d have been happy to pay for it.

The room itself was tidy and comfortable, which was a plus, yet trying to get online was frustrating – there’s no Wi‑Fi in the room and the mobile signal is so weak you can barely make a call.
