“Wonderful place to stay!”

The host was great! The room and the house were first class! He even stayed up with us into the night to help us get some assistance from after‑hours medical staff. He was very personable and very helpful with information about the area.

“Incredibly lovely and kind host, beautiful views!”

The host was lovely and caring, with stunning views that even caught a rainbow the morning we woke up. It felt like staying in someone’s house, especially with the old Phil’s warm welcome and late‑night greetings, plus his stories about the local area. He clearly cares about the community, sharing a lot of knowledge and making the place feel special. He let us borrow his cell phone multiple times to talk with the rental car company and even helped another guest find accommodation by calling a friend when nothing else was available. We enjoyed listening to the rain on the tin roof and the fact that they collect rainwater—just a bit hard to find in the dark, but there are signs to follow. It does feel a bit like a BnB with a big living room and rooms close together in the hallway, not a typical inn or hotel, which surprised me at first but was comfy, super clean, and a great spot to recover after some drama with Milford Sound. Fresh homemade cookies were a bonus. Worth it for Phil’s hospitality. The only suggestion would be to offer some non‑dairy options for lactose‑intolerant guests, but that’s a minor thing.

Very nice clean property. Little adjustment on the first day since this was our first time staying at a Bed & Breakfast.
