“Saalfeld hat uns Freude gemacht.”

The reception was very pleasant, the cuisine excellent—especially the schnitzel and farmer’s breakfast—and the endless coffee at breakfast was a highlight.

“Ich würde diese Unterkunft nicht noch einmal buchen wollen.”

The room size was very good and the staff were nice, but at first glance everything looked tidy—only to discover on second look that the sheets and towels had holes, the bed creaked when turned, and spider webs covered the ceiling and curtain rods; the shower still bore black mold stains, there was no shower curtain, and towel drying options were scarce; TV reception was constantly interrupted by poor internet, and the last morning only cold water came out of the taps; the booked breakfast was fine except for the dried nectarine and oranges.

“Besticht durch die Lage, ansonsten passabel.”

Breakfast was good, the hotel feels a bit dated, but its location in the old town is superb.

“Superservice und gutes Essen.”

The staff and owner were extremely friendly and helpful, always adapting to guests’ requests; the hotel was clean, tidy, centrally located yet quiet, and the kitchen was outstanding, especially the Sunday dishes with six different roast options. Everything was very good.

Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was marred by the fact that it was simply too cold. I was expecting a warm and welcoming atmosphere, but unfortunately, this was not the case.
