A super cute spot, especially if you love quirky Japanese trains. I’m thrilled I stayed here. In winter, stinkbugs and ladybugs come out of the heat and show up in the room; it’s not a huge deal but made things a bit less comfy. The bugs never got near me or my zipped bags.

Spending time with other guests was unforgettable, and the place had a genuinely wonderful vibe. I found it hard to get there because of heavy snow, but outside winter it’s fine and you can enjoy nature. Winter brings more visitors, which you’ll have to tolerate, but it can still be a fantastic experience.

The location is unbeatable and the owner is very kind and courteous, making me feel safe. I have no complaints.

The owner is incredibly friendly, and because the place is small, you can chat with fascinating guests while watching trains pass right by the platform. It’s a truly unique spot—perfect for a train enthusiast like me. Stay before the Shinkansen arrives! :)

The train platform is right outside the guesthouse, the host is very friendly and sweet, and he can provide meals if you ask (I didn’t get a chance to try). The atmosphere feels cozy. However, I found a few live stink bugs, one of which fell on me; shopping has to be done in Kutchan since there are no restaurants or shops nearby, and public transit is infrequent.
