“Zu teuer für die Nebensaison”
We really appreciated the attentive staff and the Thaproban Waves pool. Unfortunately, Unawatuna is in low season and the hotel is being prepped for the high season, which brings construction noise that we weren’t warned about; after five minutes in our room we asked for a different one because we couldn’t tolerate it, were shown two alternatives and had to choose. We would have liked some price compensation for the inconvenience, but none was offered. It was the most expensive hotel we’d booked in Sri Lanka and should have been the highlight of our tour, yet the property suffers from moisture issues, leaking air‑conditioning units, a shower that floods, and we had to lay towels on the floor; breakfast is reduced for the off‑season with no buffet, the bedding smells damp, and overall it felt clammy. All in all, the cost—190 € for two nights—was far too high for a student, especially since booking on the same day would have been cheaper; I’m honestly quite annoyed.
