On the day of our stay, Recife was in a state of public calamity with heavy rains, flooding, river overflow, landslides, and official orders for everyone to stay home. Despite knowing this, the lodge still charged us 50% of the reservation, even though it was impossible to travel safely to the location. The staff were inflexible and unwelcoming, offered no refund, refused to reschedule, and gave no alternative to mitigate the loss. This was a huge disrespect, especially since the money was hard-earned and saved for a long time, and we could not use it. The frustration with the service was compounded by the clear lack of regard for safety, well‑being, and customer loyalty. Because of this attitude, we have no intention of returning or recommending the place to friends or family, as we felt there was a lack of sensitivity and responsibility at a critical moment.
