The Zane Grey Pueblo Hotel on Catalina Island is a hidden gem. I can’t believe how convenient it was: the hotel offers free golf‑cart rides that pick you up from the ferry and shuttle you to downtown Avalon any time between 8am and 10pm. Our suite was absolutely gorgeous, huge, and one of the cleanest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. After checkout, the front desk staff kindly arranged for our luggage to be delivered to the ferry terminal for our return trip. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Everyone on the property treated us with outstanding hospitality! I was pleasantly surprised to learn about the on‑call drivers and the free breakfast. The only downside was that, as other reviews mentioned, the place could be cleaner…

The place was quiet and the pool was beautiful. I loved the hilltop location and it was easy to walk down to town. Having drivers available for pick‑ups and drop‑offs in town was a great bonus. Nothing else to complain about.

The view from the window is spectacular and it’s my favorite part of the hotel. The staff are all very friendly. The room’s cleanliness needs improvement: at first glance it seemed clean, but the floors clearly hadn’t been properly mopped—hair was found in several places. I ended up buying cleaning supplies and mopping the floor twice myself. The toiletries, including the body wash and toilet paper, were far below what I would expect from a hotel that charges around $1,000 per night. The room also lacked an air freshener; it had an unpleasant smell when we first walked in.

“Lovely night with great accommodations.”

The property is lovely. The historic site sits on the hill and offers incredible views of the bay and downtown Avalon. It is set outside of town, so if you don’t want to walk up and down the hill it can be a pain—though a golf cart can pick you up and drop you off by request. The property felt a bit sleepy during our weeknight stay.
