The overall style, the exceptional site, the rooms are beautiful, and the staff are meticulous. Not to mention the excellent cuisine. The safari team is energetic, and the reserve is full of animals with beautiful scenery. Nothing to criticize.

We loved the lodge’s location near the river where you can see the animals. We also liked that there are few lodges, giving it a family‑like feel. The game drives were fantastic, the guides were amazing, and they ensured you see as much as possible in a very pleasant way. The only downside was the distance from Hoedspruit airport and, if anything, the fact that there is only an open shower—during winter it’s not very warm, and the bathtub isn’t very practical.

Toro River is an indulgence everyone should be lucky enough to experience once in their life. From the brilliant location to the impeccable attention to detail, the amazing drives, to the staff that makes you feel like the most special person on Earth, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Excellent staff, location, and food. I would prefer an indoor shower in the suite.
