The old house was lovely, staff were attentive, and it was close to the fantastic 10/10 Mexican ‘Taco Wagon’; nothing to complain about.

The location was good, breakfast was excellent and beautifully presented, the bed was very comfortable, and the hosts were lovely. However, a few details could use improvement: hand towels, though clean, had lost their fresh look and appeared grey; there were yellow stains under the toilet seat; and a musty smell lingered, which took a bit of getting used to in this old house.

The hosts were very clear about what to do if they weren’t home when we arrived, and the front‑door code turned out to be the last four digits of the phone number we used to book. They were home, so we received a warm welcome, a property tour, and help with our bags. Coffee and tea machines are located both upstairs and downstairs. The rooms are tastefully decorated in the nineteenth‑century style of the original house, while the bathrooms are fully modern. Breakfast was superb—course‑ground grits outshined any roadhouse fare, and the fruit‑and‑yoghurt starter was fresh and tasty. Charles cooks, and Talia serves. On the morning of our one‑day stay there were no other guests, but the comment books in each room show how much visitors enjoy their stays. Take time to stroll around the town. We requested a quiet room, and “Rebeka” on the second floor was indeed quiet with a garden view. However, we could have asked for a ground‑floor room or one with a larger bed, which would have made our stay more comfortable.

The owner was friendly and the breakfast was very good. Unfortunately, the room and furnishings were shabby and dusty, the bathroom had mysterious grime on the handles, and the entire room carried a strong odor of grease or cooking fumes. To top it off, there was an envelope in the room asking for tips for the cleaning person. I understand people come for the food, but the accommodations are sub‑standard, and I want to be honest so others can decide. The reviews for this place seem a bit misleading, and the town feels run‑down and creepy with bizarre political propaganda. Definitely not a charming place to visit!
