“Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this hotel based on our experience”
The location was fine. Unfortunately, our stay at Ira Hotel & Spa was ruined by a safety incident. A draft caused the glass part of our door to slam shut and break, sending shards onto the terrace and into the swimming pool. Luckily no one was on the terrace at the time and nobody was hurt, but the pool was littered with glass and unusable. The hotel’s response was the real disappointment: we were immediately told we had to pay €200 for the damage, even though we didn’t think we were at fault. There were no signs in the room warning us about securing the door because of drafts. The administrator was particularly unpleasant, speaking rudely, repeatedly calling us, demanding we come to reception, refusing to give her name, and threatening to call the police. We were not afraid to contact the police because we hadn’t caused the damage intentionally and were ready to explain what happened. Even more disheartening, after the incident we were forced to leave the hotel despite already paying for our stay, losing the remaining paid night/day. We paid about €470 for two nights, so we expected a much higher level of service, safety, and professionalism. Accidents happen, but the hotel’s reaction—blaming, pressuring, and threatening—was unacceptable. We are now requesting a refund for the unused accommodation and an investigation into the incident.
