The wall décor was deteriorated, with water infiltration stains on the ceiling. The towels were worn, there was no bath mat, no hair dryer, and no shower gel, among other missing items. The housekeeping was poor, with spider webs and dust. Reception was open only from 15:00 to 21:00 and the elevator was out of service. It does not deserve three stars. The value for money is bad at €239 TTC per night.

The location was fine, but there was noise disturbance, poor hygiene, very little staff presence, no view of the sea, and the room I booked turned out not to exist.

The hotel is conveniently located at the fishing harbor in IJmuiden, with free public parking across from the hotel and various restaurants directly below and beside it. The pretzel stalls emit the smell of old fish and even older grease, overpowering many other odors, but not all. At night it is eerily quiet! We really liked the remarkably friendly reception staff; the lady was truly nice. The hotel lobby was dirty with spider webs, smelled of hashish, cigarette smoke, and sweat, and the first‑floor room had wall cracks and water stains on the ceiling. The kettle, along with tea and coffee powder, is useless without disposable cups. All this for €170 without breakfast for one night. Bottom line: a four‑star price for zero‑star performance.

The receptionist was friendly. The room was okay and the bathroom was tidy. There was a lot of outside noise. The bed was fine and slept well, but it was not a queen‑size bed as advertised; it was 160 cm, which is now quite standard.
