When we got to Novotel Abu Dhabi Al Rabdan around 3:00 PM, we had already paid for both rooms, yet the reception told us the rooms were still being prepared, so we waited almost an hour until about 4:00 PM. After finally heading upstairs, the rooms were marked “ready” in the system but were not actually prepared; a housekeeping staff member was seen on his phone instead of cleaning. I raised the issue with the duty manager but saw no real action or resolution. The hotel later sent an apology and a fruit basket, which I appreciate but does not fix the service failure or the inconvenience we endured. The hotel advertises fast and efficient check‑in and check‑out, but our experience was the opposite. I rate Housekeeping 0/10 for marking rooms as ready when they weren’t, and for the staff using their phone; Reception 0/10 for poor room allocation and lack of urgency while guests waited, and for senior staff chatting with colleagues; Reservations Office 0/10 because the rooms were paid for two days before arrival.
