Located on Havre‑Des‑Pas sea front opposite the public bathing pool, De L’Etang is a family‑run guest house offering a bar, restaurant, and free public Wi‑Fi. All rooms feature en‑suite bathrooms, flat‑screen TVs, and many provide sea views. Guests enjoy a cooked breakfast, patio dining with ocean vistas, and occasional themed bar nights. It lies under a ten‑minute walk from St Helier centre, with Esplanade and the harbour within three kilometres.

The view was nice because it was on the seafront, but the room was very hot and we had to keep the windows open; being at the front of the building, the road traffic was incredibly loud and made sleeping hard.

The front desk was welcoming, but the bathroom sink and cramped shower left a bad impression.

The morning reception was pleasant, thanks to a very friendly waitress, which made me give a better rating; the location is nice. The check‑in on the day of arrival was disappointing, with an unhelpful person who only greeted you at the bar, handed you paperwork with no explanation, and left you to find your room on your own. The hotel is mediocre and I don’t recommend rooms 8 or 9; it deserves only a simple 2‑star rating and is too expensive for what it offers.

The place is well situated and the food is good, but the lack of a lift made it a bit hard to carry a large suitcase and bag up the stairs.

The location is superb, right across from the beach and the Greek Taverna restaurant is excellent; our room offered a sea view. The only downside was that breakfast was served only between 8 and 9 am.
