“Well worth considering, if you just need a comfortable place to sleep.”
The hotel is definitely budget‑friendly, but the room was tidy and the fixtures were a bit worn yet functional. You can see some rooms are being upgraded as of Oct 26, so the owners are actively improving. I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a great spot for the airport, about 20 min on the 100 (just take an open‑ended return), and only about 10 min from the west end of Princes Street by bus, with frequent services. You can walk to the Murrayfield tram stop and the stadium. Lothian transport now lets you tap a card and caps costs at a day ticket price, making city travel easier than before. If you just need a cheap place to sleep while visiting Edinburgh, this works. The after‑hours check‑in might seem tricky, but it’s possible; you receive an email with the room number and key code before arrival, usually a day or two in advance, though the owners sent mine sooner. In my room the TV is on its last legs and will only turn on once before you have to climb on a chair and flip the wall switch; it will probably be replaced soon. The area is a fairly long walk to shops in Costorphine, with only a small convenience store at Western Corner, so you’ll be eating in town. It’s on a busy road, mostly residential, but traffic noise is constant.
