“Great location to stay, large rooms, very clean, great food and fantastic host.”

The host was very friendly, the rooms and bathrooms were incredibly clean, and the inn at the entrance made grabbing food and drinks super convenient. The beds were comfy, the rooms huge, and it was a great place to stay before heading out on the Paparoa Track. The town itself is a cool little NZ spot full of history, so I highly recommend it. The only note is that the bathrooms are shared at the end of the hall, but they’re still incredibly clean with plenty of hot water and fantastic pressure.

“Perfect NZ hotel/backpacker stay”

I stayed in a quaint small town with classic NZ backpacker vibes, and the rustic accommodation had a big heart. The staff were very relaxed, friendly, and helpful, and the continental breakfast was delicious. On the evening we arrived, we enjoyed a warm pub with good food. It was super affordable. The only downside was the cold underfoot in winter, but the heater warmed the room quickly—just bring slippers!

“A comfortable warm place to stay.”

A great place to stay, the beds were very comfortable and the rooms warm. The meals were delicious and good value but there was no red meat dishes on the menu e.g steak. There was a good variety of items in the continental breakfast and plenty of it. There was 5 different spreads, 2 types of bread, 4 cereals, muesli, porridge and fresh fruit, plus tea, coffee and milo/hot chocolate and muffins. It is easy to find and plenty of parking. The staff could have been friendlier, some were great but others shouldn't have been dealing with the public

The local staff were friendly and the place had a lovely homely feel. The meals were excellent. Nothing else to add.
