We were very warmly welcomed; the double room had three beds, was simple but clean. Dinner was local‑style – everything was freshly prepared, using self‑grown produce. The food was lovingly plated, and breakfast featured warm fresh milk from our own cow, homemade cheese, sweet bread spread, and Petullas. Because the road to the guesthouse was blocked in the morning, Valentina, the host, escorted us to a different route to the main street, which was an adventure. We missed coffee at breakfast, the homemade white wine in the evening wasn’t chilled, and the beds were very hard.

The stay at Bujtani Celiku turned out to be one of the best trips I’ve had. The place is brand‑new and super comfy, and Valentina’s cooking was top‑notch—she was also a huge help. Mazllami guided me through Burrel, hooked me up with Aurel for translation, and introduced me to friendly locals. We hit a wine tasting in Durres and trekked into the mountains. The local café and the family winery were a real treat.

The spot is gorgeous, tucked into a picturesque countryside with views in every direction—sheep, cows, chickens, hills, mountains, all around. The rooms are new and nice, though a few floors were only partially swept since we were the only guests. Breakfast was decent, dinner was okay, but overall the food quality in Albania is pretty high.
