“Good (apart from staircase) would use again.”
The Cricketer’s Inn is located in a very quiet, attractive village. Has adequate parking and is well appointed. Located a couple of miles from the main road out of / into Winchester down a country lane with little traffic and regular passing places. We arrived early to leave our cases, etc. before we made our way into Winchester for sightseeing. WE arrived early - about 3.45 – and the Inn was closed, opening again at 4pm. The young lady receptionist / bar person was lovely and showed us up to our room and made sure we had liquid refreshment once we had settled in and gave us details to how to get into the City. I have a heart problem and the narrow steep stairs were not easy for me to negotiate with my luggage. The room was functional (No. 3) and clean with all the necessary elements. Had a shower, bed, chair working surface and tea / coffee / chocolate making facilities. There was no wardrobe so suits, dresses, etc. had to remain in the cases. We found it ideal for our overnight stay. We ate in the restaurant in the evening (last orders 8pm.) and the food was good and competitively priced. The breakfast was also moderately priced, well cooked and set us up for the day. We would recommend for overnight stays, not sure if it would be as ideal for any longer. see above
