Late check‑in was super hassle‑free, the room was clean, and the breakfast buffet was generous; we’ll return. The room (No. 1) was a bit noisy.

The room and bathroom were both very large, spotless, and well furnished; the big terrace offered a view of the garden and the Elz. Breakfast was a plentiful buffet, bikes could be parked in the garage, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There was nothing negative to report.

We had a balcony room overlooking the Elz, where trout, pond chickens, a grey heron, and a kingfisher were always visible alongside sparrows, tits, and blackbirds. Breakfast was a standard spread, but special requests were fulfilled quickly. The Mühleinsel’s proximity to the train station is both an advantage for travel and a drawback for those needing silence; we used the station for car‑free trips to Freiburg, Basel, and Strasbourg, and the nighttime train sounds didn’t bother us. Everything was fine.
