The location was sweet, with a nice long beach to stroll on. The food was great, and a boat was available every day for snorkeling. Best of all were the hosts, Teis and Oca, who spent time with us and made the stay enjoyable.

The location was ideal for freediving: the front beach in the mornings and the back area in the afternoon (best for experienced divers). Plenty of tours took you to the main attractions, all booked through the host Thomas. Sunsets, good host‑cooked food, and a chance to disconnect and relax. The only downside was that the beach had some plastic trash from waves because of its ocean location; you should help clean it up during your stay. Also, download Indonesian on Google Translate, as another guest had trouble with no Wi‑Fi. That was our favorite part: disconnecting.

The only thing worth mentioning about this homestay was its location. Everything else was terrible: mountains of plastic litter everywhere, sometimes a little bit collected and burned next to the very primitive huts, the rest dumped back into the sea. The locals seemed uninterested in travelers’ needs but charged a lot for everything, like boat rides. The food was the worst I’ve had in any homestay and insufficient. We complained a lot, but nothing changed over the three days, and there was no internet at all. It’s such a remote spot that I can only warn people to avoid it; once you’re there you’re stuck and dependent on the mood of the locals. This was the worst homestay we’ve been to in Raja so far—don’t go.

We can only highly recommend Or Mandira Homestay. We spent four beautiful days here. Tomas and his family welcomed us warmly and we felt very comfortable. The huts are simple, the location spectacular. The crescent‑shaped beach strip is only 20 meters wide. The homestay is a great starting point for trips around the Pam‑Island region. The Pyanemo Lookout is just 10 minutes away and there are fantastic snorkeling spots all around. There is no reef, but you can walk long along the beach and swim in the waves. The food is simple but tasty and the whole family prepares it at meal times. For those who can manage with modest means, Or Mandira is a wonderful place. Prime location, kind people and fantastic nature. We started teaching the kids to juggle. If you want to bring a nice guest gift, a few simple juggling balls would be great! Unfortunately, there is also a downside: unavoidable plastic waste. Because of its fantastic location, strong wind or waves bring large amounts of driftwood, timber and plastic debris onto the beach. Tomas and his family sweep it away and do their best to keep their paradise clean, but it is a losing battle.

Warm welcome after getting to know each other. Very pretty beach, cleaned regularly around the homestay.
