Jonny at the bar greeted us warmly, was helpful and efficient. The hotel looks nice in a charming village. The only issue was that the heating in our room was non‑existent, but fortunately it wasn’t a freezing night. Overall, everything was good except for the heating.

The location suited our needs well, the staff were very helpful, and the food was brilliant. Unfortunately, the room’s cleanliness was lacking: bedside lamps were dusty, the bottom of the wardrobe had bits of paper, and the ceiling lights were covered in dust and cobwebs, not just a week’s worth.

The location was good, very close to the beautiful Lowther castle and gardens. The 2 dinners we had were very good. The breakfast was rather shambolic on 2 out of the 3 mornings we stayed, one not helped by a power cut. The stair carpet needs cleaning and the grouting in our shower was not clean
