I arrived at 18:00 in front of the entrance door, which was closed. I called the phone number on the hotel’s glass but got no answer, so I left a voicemail with my number asking to be called back an hour later, but still no reply. I was forced to leave the premises and find a hotel 25 km away. The cherry on top: La Bonne Famille charged 82 € to my card and has not refunded it to date, even after I requested a refund from the establishment. I strongly advise against staying at this place, which looks abandoned from the outside and whose website now says “Closed permanently” – a real scandal in the tourism sector.

The location was close to the attractions, but there was no staff to greet guests – you had to use a mobile phone and a key in a coded box to get into the room. No breakfast and no village options. I had asked for a room for a person with a disability, yet I was assigned a room on the second floor – outrageous! The bed was comfortable but the overall décor was from the 1960s. In short, I would not recommend this completely dehumanised establishment.

“A fuir absolument !!!”

The view from the room overlooking the abbey ruins was great, but the staff took about ten attempts to answer my calls. When a lady refused or couldn't provide information about the hotel facilities (she wasn't on site) she simply hung up on me without apologising, even after I called back again after another ten tries – utterly unacceptable. The tiny room smelled bad and the windows never opened for ventilation. The listing didn’t mention that the bathroom and toilet were not in the room, nor that you’d have to carry keys around to open and close every door, making me feel imprisoned. Breakfast wasn’t available unless you booked it in advance, which the ad didn’t state. Overall, nothing worked out, and it was far too expensive for what it was.

“Bien pour un court passage”

The hotel sits directly opposite the ruins of the Jumièges abbey, but the entrance was not functional.
