“Pior Experiência que tivemos na Indonésia”
We didn’t like anything; it was the worst stay in Indonesia (we’d slept in over 20 places already). The location was wrong—listed in the app as somewhere else, but actually tucked in a narrow alley and hard to find. When we got there, the receptionist told us our room was no longer available, even though we’d booked an hour earlier and they’d confirmed the reservation. It was raining and dark; I warned them they’d have to fix it or we’d call the police. He asked if we could wait five minutes, and we agreed. He cleaned a room, but basically the only available one was unprepared. The room smelled of cigarette, the sheets were the dirtiest, most stained I’ve ever seen—disgusting. The app didn’t say the shower was cold, and the toilet flush didn’t work; I had to open the box and fix it myself. We stayed because it was dark and we were exhausted, not wanting to search for another place. We’d travelled across Java, circled Bali, and ridden a motorcycle across Java again, staying in cheap hotels, and never seen such bad service. The bed was awful, you could feel the springs, and a high glass window let a lamp outside stay on all night—like sleeping with the room light on.
