The accommodation and the two small piglets were great, but our wellness session ended too quickly.

The location was excellent, yet upon arrival we were told there was no reservation, and after giving my phone we had to search through emails to verify our booking. The shower cabin was about 40 cm higher than the bathroom tiles, and the water that leaked from the closed cabin during showering was more than a hazard. The room air was unpleasant and sharply scented; ventilation didn’t help. Breakfast barely met the appropriate category, and dinner required us to rush, though whatever remained was left. The fact that there was no water at the tables for dinner was unprecedented.

Gyula is a fantastic small town with everything a big city offers—shops, theatre, castle—and Pusztaottlaka is 30 km away, full of exotic animals. The spa is amazing, and the 100‑year‑old confectionery baked the 2026 national cake. There’s so much to find that everyone can discover something. The Plaza Hotel’s special feature is the outdoor cinema.

The reception was very friendly and the parking was available. In the room we were greeted by four spiders. Breakfast varied between sausage and cheese each day, but it was always the same sausage and cheese. The shower in the bathroom was very dirty, so I didn’t dare shower. Dinner was always good if you arrived on time; otherwise it was the worst option. There was no non‑alcoholic beer, even though it was on the menu, and the TV had no German programmes. I was certainly not the first German here.
