Everything. The room was nice with AC, a ceiling fan, and a mosquito net. The food was exquisite. Santos, who runs the place, is from Italy, so there was an Italian touch to the menu. The location had the roaring sea as background. A lovely pool if you thought the waves were too strong. The accommodation arranged a day trip for me to visit a waterfall, a massive one, a traditional village, and a beach—perfect setup.

Right on the beach. Beautiful, well‑kept garden. Quiet. A family‑like atmosphere among the guests. Friendly staff. Helpful manager. Good food. I especially enjoyed the bruschetta with homemade bread. I highly recommend the Rua Beach Resort. Nothing was wrong; everything was great for me.

We had a fantastic stay at Rua Beach Resort, our favorite spot in Sumba. Even though it’s officially a three‑star resort, don’t let that deter you. The rooms and facilities are nice, tidy and clean, the vibe is relaxed and friendly, and the location is simply amazing. For us, this stretch of Rua Beach was the best beach area we found on Sumba, with soft sand, a long sandy beach and great swimming even at high tide. After exploring different parts of the island, we truly appreciated how beautiful this spot is. A special shout‑out to Santos, our host, who was amazing—always ready to help and could arrange almost anything we wanted. Nothing ever caused a problem. You can book a local fishing boat, hire scooters or a car, arrange transport and explore the area. There are also nearby spots for meals and sunset drinks, though I’d definitely recommend some transport to explore properly. What really set Rua Beach Resort apart was the atmosphere. Everyone was friendly, welcoming and helpful, and it felt like a perfect place to relax and enjoy Sumba. We stayed at several four‑ and five‑star properties during our trip, but Rua Beach Resort was our overall favorite experience. Sometimes location, people and atmosphere matter more than the star rating on a hotel’s name. Highly recommended. We would definitely stay here again and will be back! The only downside is that it’s a three‑star property; the bathrooms were three‑star but they were comfortable and clean.
