Because the reviews were all over the place, I didn’t know what to expect, so we were on our way to the Gilis and arrived in daylight. The neighborhood had many friendly faces, open warungs for a quick bite, and pricier restaurants nearby. The room had AC, a comfy bed, and the shower ran fine. No noise disturbed us, and the roof terrace was great for sunsets with beer sold at the front desk. We didn’t need anything else and recommend it for anyone staying near the harbor.

“Unexpectedly bad”

The staff are friendly and helpful. There is no room service or usable facilities, and toiletries are minimal. For the price, I could get a much better hotel.

“Only good for an overnight stay if your plan is to catch early morning ferry from Serangan Harbour.”

The only advantage of this place is that it’s just a 4‑minute walk from the nearest Serangan harbour, where you can catch the ferry to Nusa Penida. There is no breakfast or operational kitchen at the facility; the only thing we could get was hot water for tea or coffee. The staff didn’t know how to help with scooters or taxis. There are no nearby scooter rentals, and Grab/Gojek don’t pick up or drop off in the area, so you either walk 20 minutes from the nearest Grab/Gojek drop‑off point or hire an expensive private taxi. Overall, aside from its proximity to Serangan harbour, there are no positive points about this place. It’s not convenient for longer stays, has no nearby scooter rentals, and Grab/Gojek don’t serve the area. No nearby cafés.

“Quite place better for couples and family”

Everything was spot‑on, no complaints at all. The downside was that the kitchen, rooftop bar, and in‑lodge café were all closed, which felt odd; when I visited back in 2019‑20 the lodge was bustling, but now it’s very quiet, which I actually appreciated.

I was only a five‑minute stroll from the ferry terminal, which made getting to the harbour a breeze. The room itself was simple but adequate for a single night, and the view—though marred by visible electricity cables—was still nice. The décor had a clear nod to the Greek Cyclades. The only drawback was that Serangan itself offers very few shops and restaurants, but that’s not the hotel’s fault.
