The place was clean and beautiful, and the staff were super helpful, friendly, and accommodating; breakfast was really good. The only downside was that our room 55 didn’t have a regular shower—just a tub with a shower wand, so I’d have preferred a bathroom with a shower enclosure.

The location was amazing and the staff wonderful, plus the shuttle to and from the parking lot was a bonus since we had a car. We stayed in one of the cave rooms, which was very cool. The bathroom, however, let you see the toilet from the bedroom, so there was no privacy when using the bathroom—a weird setup.

It’s the Ritz of Matera—staff, room, and breakfast all five stars.

Great service and an amazing location; the staff were very helpful. The only thing I’d suggest is reinforcing the stairs that lead to the rooms, even though it wasn’t a problem for us.

A truly special stay in Matera: the staff were welcoming and accommodating, the room was spacious and thoughtfully curated, and it struck a perfect balance between historic charm and modern elegance.
