“Use the onsen as much as possible!”
The onsen was fantastic, offering a wide selection of indoor and outdoor baths that we used as much as possible without getting too hot. Saunas aren’t my thing, but my travel companion liked them and even spotted a TV inside. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially considering my poor Japanese. The futons were super comfy, and I’d strongly suggest trying the tatami Japanese‑style room if you haven’t before. We had a tea set in the room and a welcome sweet that I think was pickled plum, though I’m not entirely sure. Vending machines were plentiful and a real treat, and both restaurants were great. Western guests should remember when and where to take off shoes and slippers to keep things clean. Ping‑pong was fun and easy to rent from the front desk. We didn’t try the other facilities, but they looked promising. We’ll definitely return next time we’re in Japan. The property feels a bit dated, with a few small tears in the wardrobe door and curtains that could use a refresh, but everything else worked fine. If you’re hoping for a pool or outdoor water attractions, check the dates first—our visit coincided with the off‑season closure, which was our responsibility.
