The place sits in a solid spot, just a short walk from the main square where you can hit a handful of shops, and the staff are friendly. The room itself is roomy and spotlessly clean.

The spot’s location is great, and the night‑time jungle walk plus the Amazoonica tour were fantastic. The only downside was the lack of snacks or drinks between meals.

A tiny gem perched at 3,500 m in Zumbahua, the house boasts beautiful wall murals, excellent food and very helpful staff; each room has an electric radiator and the shower water stays hot throughout, plus there are private parking spaces in the courtyard, making it an ideal base for visiting Quilotoa Lagoon and hiking, and we wholeheartedly recommend the hosteria.
