Hotel Lumbarda

The location is right on the beach. The manager’s welcome was very friendly. The rooms are spacious and the view from the 5th floor is superb. Breakfast is very good. We arrived on 14 October and the hotel’s environment made us feel the end of the season; in Lumbarda many restaurants were already closed.

“Great location, but the room and facilities need improvement”

The place is excellent, right by the bus stop in Lumbarda and directly across from the beach, with several other beautiful beaches and wineries within walking distance. The reception staff are friendly and polite. Breakfast was disappointing overall, but there were decent options such as bread, spreads, and fruit. The balcony – constant AC water dripping – was by far our biggest disappointment. We booked a sea‑view room to enjoy the balcony, but water from an air conditioning unit above kept dripping down and splashing onto us, our drinks, and the clothes we hung to dry. Because our room was on the lowest floor, the balcony had a solid wall instead of railings, which made the problem worse as the water hit the wall and splashed everywhere. As a result, we could barely use the balcony, which was one of the main reasons we chose this room. The constant water drainage also seems like a maintenance issue that should be addressed. The bed arrangement – two single beds with thick wooden frames – was also disappointing. We requested a double bed before arrival and were explicitly told our request would be fulfilled, but we were given two single beds pushed together. The staff explained that they were aware of our request but couldn’t accommodate it due to limited availability. Although the beds themselves were comfortable, their thick wooden frames left a large gap between them, so pushing them together didn’t really create a double bed. The room and bathroom were quite dated (the photos on the booking site do not reflect this clearly), and the bathroom had an unpleasant smell. Breakfast had a good variety of options, including bread, spreads, and fruit, but the quality was inconsistent, especially the meat products, which seemed quite low‑quality. The Wi‑Fi connection was poor and unreliable.

The hotel’s location is good for day trips and it’s centrally located. We didn’t expect much, but we were still completely disappointed. The room had a musty smell, and nothing could be put in the wardrobe. The bed also emitted a musty odor from below. The room was never cleaned during our stay – only the trash was emptied and perhaps a bath towel was changed. The overall hotel equipment is outdated and very old‑fashioned, probably still from the 1970s in parts, such as the reception area. It needs major modernization. The staff were friendly but totally unqualified; the girls handled everything (cleaning, serving, washing, etc.). The food was very disappointing (hard bread, cold eggs, cold bacon, little selection). Only when asked was it refilled. We booked half‑board, but we went out for meals several times because the food was not very appealing. We’ve stayed in many hotels, but we’ve never experienced this. The description and photos do not match reality.
