The host was nice, tried to help guests and made fantastic food, always reachable and willing to assist; the location is far from the city, so a scooter is essential, otherwise it’s difficult. It’s very quiet, perfect for those who want a lot of peace. I found it too quiet and remote; although the host is friendly, she didn’t stick to the agreed scooter price—I chose the cheaper one but was told I could only keep it for one day, then switch to the expensive one, with no explanation. I ended up paying for the expensive one even though I only wanted it for one day, and I wanted to use it for a couple of hours on the second day at a full price, which was unfair. I didn’t feel very comfortable there.

I arrived in Yen Bai at 11 pm without a reservation, and the family welcomed me instantly, even offering dinner though I declined because of the late hour. The next day, though breakfast wasn’t included, they gave it to me knowing I hadn’t had dinner the night before. Sharing a homemade family dinner was a lovely, generous experience, and the breakfast featured a big bowl of noodles with egg, vegetables, and fruit from their own farm. The host father was always ready for tea and conversation. The shared bedroom was very comfortable, with good beds, blankets for the cold, and curtains. A hot shower was a real treat in December. The location was convenient for walking to the city center and the bus station, about a 40‑minute walk. On the day I left, the owner, who also drives, dropped me off at the center on the way. I can’t thank them enough; highly recommended!
