“安かろう悪かろう”
The scenery of the hot‑spring town made me excited about the trip, and the spring water seemed decent. But first, the elevator didn’t work. There was no air‑conditioning, so I had to open the window; they gave me two fans, yet the room stayed hot during the day’s heat, only cooling down around midnight when the date changed. I spent the night in just my underwear, which might be tough for women, and I wondered if it would be better in winter. The open‑air bath was fully visible from the opposite inn, and even the indoor pool felt exposed. Parking cost an extra 1000 yen later. They suggested a room with a toilet, but it added another 1000 yen, and the entrance tax was also collected. Items like toothbrushes and towels were missing from the room, so you either buy them or bring your own. The toilet was a shared one on the basement floor, so for a fourth‑floor room you had to climb stairs to use it. The in‑room toilet had a protruding wall piece where the paper was stuck, and a small holder for extra paper was oddly placed; it felt like the cheapness was being flaunted, so I installed it myself, but the place seemed to say “don’t complain about the cheapness.”
