“Fantastic.10/10”
The location was great, everything was clean, free breakfast was excellent, free Wi‑Fi, laundry options, and the staff were kind and attentive. The older plumbing was a downside.
The staff were extremely kind. Breakfast was excellent. The rooms were very spacious. In the centre, 10 minutes on foot from the Basilica del Voto Nacional. They also offer a free guide service (obviously tip‑worthy) and other daily tours. We had a great stay.
“Good location but NOT a hostel”
The staff were very nice, and the location was good for walking to the historic centre. The room was clean. I only managed to have breakfast one morning, and it was simple and mostly “American” rather than traditional, but it was good. The staff met us at the door at 1 am to make sure we got into our taxi safely for an overnight flight. The biggest complaint is that this place is unclear about whether it’s a hotel or a hostel. I booked it thinking it was a hostel because that’s how it appeared on the website. In reality, the name is Quito Basecamp Hotel. There are no shared spaces, no public lounge areas, no kitchen or fridge. The only “hostel” feature is that there are public bathrooms in the hallways and they charge per person for the nightly rate. I stayed 4 nights and my room was never touched—trash wasn’t emptied or anything, which is kind of gross when you’re putting toilet paper in the waste baskets. No amenities in the bathroom. At breakfast, it only included one cup of coffee.
“nice modern rooms close to the historical centre”
Although this property is very close to the historic centre, the hotel itself is very modern and newly renovated inside. The room quality and facilities were excellent. I unfortunately suffered food poisoning (not caused by the hotel), and the staff helped me with a pharmacy visit and a modified breakfast.
“Fantástico”
I was very well received. The environment was very clean and welcoming. The breakfast was wonderful.
