When I got there, it was a total mess – an abandoned building in complete disarray, boarded up and with no single key in sight, absolutely disgraceful. I had booked it months ahead as a place to crash the night before a wedding near Hotel Knowesgate while traveling from Leeds, but when we arrived it was shut down; we’d been on the road all day, it was getting late, and we were stranded in the middle of nowhere in Northumberland – a horrible feeling, I was fuming.

I booked a room for 3:00‑4:00 am because I needed it immediately, but the hotel emailed me that the check‑in window was 15:00‑18:00, which was useless. I called and told them I needed to check in right away, and they said to call later because the receptionist wasn’t there. “DONT use booking.com disgusting service, booked us the hotel that did not exist”

After a 10‑hour drive I finally found this hotel, only to discover it was closed for maintenance. We were exhausted and couldn’t drive any further, and there were no other hotels available. How could they treat customers like that? We called, and the only response was a vague promise of a refund – disgusting customer service. Don’t book this place. It was not open for business and closed for maintenance.
