I stayed at an old ryokan that I wasn’t expecting, but the staff treated it with care and served us well. They separated the toilets and baths for men and women, arranged luggage delivery, and handled everything politely. The futons were fluffy, and even though the kids were noisy, the sound didn’t leak. The renovated bath was clean for both genders, and the ikebana display was lovely. Breakfast was simple and fine. However, the place is supposedly non‑smoking, yet a cigarette smell drifted from somewhere in the building, probably because the ventilation isn’t great.
