The welcome was cordial and the place is beautiful, surrounded by greenery. The apartment needs some maintenance work and a refresh, especially in the bathroom and lighting.

The pool and facilities are good, the Wi‑Fi is stable, there’s a charging station for our electric car, and the hosts are friendly and speak German. They give great tips for outings and restaurants, and the location is very nice. If you’re looking for peace and a slower pace, not a 5‑star hotel with all the comforts that agriturismo usually offers, this is definitely the right place. The house is very quiet, located between olive and hazelnut groves, and it’s not far from the charming Castiglione del Lago. Some things are a bit older, so there are compromises with the sanitary facilities. The owners are aware and want to address it soon.

“Verschrikkelijk!!!”

Our experience at Poggio del Sole in Castiglione del Lago was absolutely terrible. Behind the pretty photos, the four stars, and the impressive rating of 8.8, there was a lot of façade. The reality we found was far from what was shown online. At arrival we were taken to our apartment. As soon as we entered, it smelled very musty and moldy. After taking a closer look, we were actually a bit disappointed. The condition we found was totally not what we expected based on the advertisement, photos, and high rating. We reported our complaints immediately to both the owner and the manager. The owner seemed barely to understand what we were concerned about. In the end, we were offered another apartment. Because it was already late, we could only inspect it briefly. It smelled less musty, so we decided to stay there for the night. Unfortunately, we discovered that this apartment was also far from acceptable. I have asthma and woke up at night with a tight feeling, a constricted throat, and chest pain, as if I was having an asthma attack. We then examined the apartment again thoroughly. In several places we found what clearly looked like mold: in and around the shower, on walls, and near the toilet. The photos in this review speak for themselves. The plumbing was also in very bad condition. The toilet didn’t flush properly, so even waste stayed. The toilet bowl was broken and there was visible dirt around the plumbing. The shower and the shower drain looked like they hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly for a long time. But it wasn’t just the apartment. We were also shocked by what we found at the pool.

The grounds are beautiful, the vacation apartment is well equipped and clean. Remarkable are the extremely attentive hosts Anna and Enrico, who lovingly care for their agritourism and guests. Every morning there is good breakfast and otherwise we felt welcome and very comfortable as a family.
