“Nice alternative to the chain hotels in a unique corner of the Scranton area”
Hotel Anthracite met our expectations, offering a solid alternative to the local chain hotels and letting us explore more of the area beyond Scranton. The hotel was clean, efficient, and the breakfast was excellent. Service was good and we had a perfectly fine stay. The downside is it’s in a small town with few people passing through, so it felt very sleepy. I’m not sure if there were more than 2‑3 other guests in the hotel while we were there.

In town, nothing else really near here. Comfortable bed. Roomy room. Free rear parking. AC pretty noisy. Only 1 elevator
“Excellent staffed boutique hotel”
Hotel staff excellent. Front desk staff friendly & accommodating. Breakfast buffet was very good & waitress service excellent. Clean hotel & room. Close to wedding venue. Very very hard & uncomfortable bed & pillows. I've slept on firm mattresses before but never experienced hard lumpy mattress like they have AND hard pillows too!)

The hotel sits in a central spot and they also have a good parking garage. The restaurant and bar had no staff during the week.

They should offer non‑sweetened cereals like cornflakes, Special K, and Cheerios. The pillows were too thin.
