“The Good, The Bad & The Ugly”
The hotel is marketed under three names—Dancenter, Burford Bridge, and Sundays Box Hill—though they all refer to the same place. Burford Bridge is the oldest name, and those reviews give the best overall picture. It’s inexpensive, some rooms have working air‑conditioning, staff are pleasant, the location is good, and there’s a free outdoor pool. Rooms contain a safe, a fridge, and complimentary water. The hotel pushes guests to book via WhatsApp beforehand to “improve the customer experience,” which is unnecessary; once you share your number, you’ll receive a flood of unsolicited messages. Calling the hotel is often difficult. There is no on‑site parking; you must use a public car park across the road, register your plate on an iPad at reception, pay £10 per night, and the parking is less secure than a hotel lot. Ground‑floor rooms have French doors that don’t close or lock properly, so security is a concern. Showers are all over bath, problematic for those with mobility issues. Soundproofing is nonexistent, so even though the hotel sits in a quiet area, you’ll likely be disturbed by other guests. Breakfast costs £17 regardless of what you order, so only try it if you want a full English; based on my experience, that was probably the worst full English you’ll ever have. In short, the staff are lovely and try to make the best of an old hotel with many serious issues, but it’s cheap.
