The old pub is stunning, the staff are lovely, the breakfast is generous, parking is easy, and the menu is solid. I’ve stayed upstairs before, which was nice, but this time I was put in a ground‑floor room that didn’t match the picture. It was next to a door that kept banging, under the stairs where people were stomping, and the curtains hung down so you could see in from outside and every passing car lit up the room. The shower was unusable – the pressure was awful, and the best setting gave me a minute of freezing cold followed by a minute of scalding hot.

The staff were friendly, the bar was cozy, the beer garden was great, and the food was delicious with a solid menu. The rooms were quaint and nicely decorated. I was very happy – I just wish we could have stayed another night.

There was nothing positive to mention. I got a small room under the stairs next to the main road, far from the town centre. The staff promised a full refund but then backed out, so I had to book another place on the strength of that promise. As a pensioner I’m £228 out of pocket.

The staff were nice, the food was good, and the room was clean, but there was no wifi even though it was advertised, the TV didn’t work (probably because of the missing wifi), the extractor fan was broken, and the room was noisy from the kitchen and stairs. Early‑morning traffic outside added to the disturbance, and the room felt like an East‑European prison cell with the same lack of wifi.
