“Localização ótima, mas péssima limpeza”
The location was the best thing about the apartment; for me it’s one of the best spots in Rio. The building had good structure and those were the main positives of staying there. I also noted that the shower had good temperature control and the apartment was spacious. Clearly the apartment hadn’t received proper cleaning for months—possibly more than a year—only a superficial sweep of the floor that didn’t clean properly. I have sinusitis and rhinitis, and the accumulated dust in the rooms, plus the mold smell in the bedroom, made me feel unwell. The bed, which is large, was actually a combination of two single‑bed sofa‑type mattresses, so it wasn’t very comfortable and made me sweat at night; we improvised by putting a larger comforter from the wardrobe under the sheets, which helped but I also noted that the comforter was dusty (the sheets and towels were clean). I think the air conditioner’s filter hadn’t been cleaned in years and should be replaced. The kitchen utensils were all greasy and dirty; I had to scrub the pots to use them for heating water because I was repulsed by how they looked. I took photos to show the lack of cleanliness (various spots with dust). The apartment is on the first floor, so the balcony is noisy; the isolation on the external doors and windows isn’t great, but it’s still possible to sleep well. The street is busy—Av. Princesa Isabel—so the noise is noticeable. Another major issue was Wi‑Fi: we had problems at several times, the connection was very bad. Someone checked it and said it worked on their device but sometimes it wouldn’t connect on ours (our phones and laptops). There was no real solution, which was stressful because I work remotely and had to leave to work elsewhere because the Wi‑Fi was too unstable. In my opinion the location is one of the best in Rio, the apartment is spacious, and the building has great structure. Aside from that, we didn’t have a good experience with cleaning and bed comfort.
