The hotel sits high up in Vesio, and the drive up from Limone is impressive; unlike being right on the lake, you get sun early and late in the evening, the view of Monte Baldo is excellent and you can even spot a small patch of Lago around Malcesine. Choosing a room up here means you’re prioritising the view over a beach holiday. The hotel is clean, the staff very friendly, and the breakfast is well‑stocked with fresh fruit salad, great cold cuts, a variety of pastries, and the scrambled eggs aren’t in a Tetra Pak. Parking is free in a huge hall about 150 m from the hotel, covered by a sun roof, and there were always plenty of spaces; if you drop your luggage at the hotel first, the distance isn’t an issue. From the pool you get a nice valley view, and during our September stay there were plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas. Initially, the coffee from the automatic machine at breakfast was unpalatable, but you can get a decent cup in the bar on the ground floor for a fee. Also, we wished we’d known before booking that the photos on Booking and the hotel site show a glass‑walled sun terrace above the pool that is actually part of the restaurant and only open during the restaurant’s hours, not the hotel bar or lobby. The building itself has a few rooms, but the reception is in the rear building on the other side of the street, where the breakfast room is too. So you can’t actually have breakfast on the lovely terrace above the pool as advertised; you’re limited to the enclosed breakfast room in the rear building, and our room was also there. I’m not sure which room to book to stay in the front building near the restaurant. To reach the pool, we had to cross the street from the rear building, go down a small ramp to the side entrance of the garden. We had assumed that the frequently pictured restaurant was the hotel itself, where we’d sleep, eat breakfast, and relax with drinks during the day, but that’s not the case. Most of the activity happens in the bar in the rear building, right on the street.

“Heel leuk hotel! Let op het licht op een berg.”

The location is gorgeous, the hotel is very nice, there’s a covered parking spot, and the pool is stunning. Breakfast is only inside, and there’s no air‑conditioning option.
